My %#^*% laptop died on me while I was in the middle of the mandatory post-trip post. Died dead. Doesn’t want to restart or anything. Gaaaaaaah
Anyway…
I went. I got my heart broken again at all the terrible statistics for Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
Had a chance to tour Bivona, the Child Advocacy Center (note the odd non-Canadian spelling).
Got my heart broken even more when I saw the medical examination room and the interview room (complete with a one way mirror a la Law & Order). And it was all I could do to get out of there before I lost it
Broken heart aside, it was a good trip and I’m now a certified Darkness To Light Facilitator for the Stewards Of Children program.
Other than that, I ate way too much today and now my aching tummy won’t let me sleep.
So I’m here, cuddling with my purring cat and hoping to make the world a safe place for children, one workshop at a time.
So happy to hear that you got to the training and you’re certified. I don’t know how you did it, frankly, I was cringing just at the mention of the statistics and the details of that centre.
Re: your stomach… You didn’t eat THAT, did you?
Yeah. It was hard. I knew it was hard. The things I SAW as a doctor working at a third level university hospital were one of the main reasons I decided never to practice. But it precisely because of what I SAW, that I’m so committed to prevention.
And yes, I did eat THAT :P
I have the utmost respect for people who do what you do (whether focused on prevention, law enforcement, therapy, etc.). I simply don’t have the emotional fortitude for it, which makes me respect you even more.
As for your poor stomach…I can’t believe you ate that. Looks like a stomach ache waiting to happen.
Believe it or not, I have a very strong stomach. I am doing much better today. But I ate waaaay to much yesterday (my way to fight stress). And I washed down that thing with a frozen custard ;)
Iron stomach.
I”m so proud of you for getting certified! That’s so great. :)
Um, yeah, that food looks like it can do some damage. No wonder your tummy was hurting!
I think my tummy was hurting more because of my stress at what I saw and heard but I guess the greasy food didn’t help :P
A big thank you for your blog article. Thanks Again. Want more. popsmartphone
