2013, who would’ve thunk?

Here I am, first day of 2013.

My mother had this crazy idea that the world was going to end in 2000. I don’t know where she got it from. This is funny cause my mother was a sensible woman, not prone to non-sense. In fact, that’s the only odd thing I ever heard her say.

I must’ve been about 6 or 7 when she said it. I remember doing the math in my head and thinking: In the year 2000 I’ll be 32. Oh, that’s OLD, I don’t have anything to worry about.

Oh yes, I did think that. And it still makes me laugh that I thought a 32 year old person was very old.

But! The world didn’t end in 2000 and it didn’t end in 2012 either (Duh!).

So, hello 2013, even if I ringed the new year in with a cold.

In any case, I’m glad my daughter convinced me to get dressed even if just to take some pictures. The hot shower helped too.

Holy smokes, do I ever look like my mother now

We played some board games, had some bubbly and after midnight, it was back into my cozy robe and pajamas

Robe was Christmas present from my daughter some 5 years ago

PJ bottoms and slippers, Christmas present from my daughter this year… er, last year. 2012

I wonder what’s in store for me this year…

SSG, your mother must be beautiful. You are a beautiful person, inside and out. Oh…love the slippers! If I ever live somewhere cold, like I want, I will have a pair like that! ~Rainey

They say she was very beautiful, yes. I have very few pictures of her before she had me. I had a very beautiful one of her and I when I was a baby but it got stolen :(

Only thing I have left from my mother is a ring which I gave to my daughter when she turned 15
