Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the album was released. God, it definitely feels like it was another life. Was I really a promising young researcher at some point?
Anyway, I got the album as a birthday present from one of my supervisors and friend of mine, the director of the Immunology Lab, where I worked at an assistant researcher all throughout my years in med school. In the form of a cassette, no less. Remember those? Yeah.
When I moved to Canada, that cassette was one of the many things left behind. But now, as of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a digital copy.
Excellent album. Great songs, all of them.
But Tus Ojos has been my favourite from day one.
Never mind that Gloria’s sultry voice is perfect for a love song. But the words, THE WORDS.
The eyes are the first thing I notice on a person. There are eyes and then there are eyes. They say the eyes are a window to the soul and I truly believe it. Some eyes are cold like steel. Some eyes are gentle and warm. Some eyes are sad, so sad.
Eyes are a true reflection of the soul and by extension, the heart.
And I couldn’t help but always wonder how would it be to find those gentle, warm, loving eyes, a reflection of a gentle, warm, loving heart where one could let oneself be lost.
Ah, SSG, always the hopeless romantic.
Enjoy!
20 years, wow! I was in Barcelona. I was studying, I was younger, wearing military boots and a dress. My hairdresser told me I looked cool. I decided to believe him. It was definitely in another life : ) That album is awesome. It cheers me up. Love the rhythms, the layers, the flavours. I’ll never grow tired of it. Thanks for bringing back memories Claudia – and have a wonderful weekend!
Dresses with military boots! Rock on!
As for the album… right? I played the tape so much it sounded funny at the end :)
Hope you have a great weekend as well. I’m performing at a very fancy event tomorrow. It should be fun
Wow, SSG – just… wow.
Beautiful song, isn’t it?
We love hopeless romantics ;-)
