I’ve Got Rhythm

The holidays are over. It’s back to work for me today.

And now that I have my dance thinking cap on, it’s time for me to start thinking about events I would like to go to this year. It’s funny because my calendar if filling up quickly without me even trying.

First, I’m going to Swing A Dance in Quebec City in February. Mainly because Natalia was invited back to teach (this time around with boyfriend). She came back last year saying she had loved the event. So, since those two are going, I’m going too because the trip is free for me :)

Swing A Danse

Natalia’s last name, frenchified!

When I was a sailor

We’re reviving this choreography for a little project. That was the first routine we took to the Canadian Swing Championships and we got 2nd Place with it!

It’s been a while since I last performed it and I’m very excited about donning my sailor costume again.

Can you spot me?

Footnote: Also, I thought it was very appropriate for my 300th post. Never thought I’d reach 300 posts when I started this blog some two years ago. A big thank you to all of you, my readers, for keeping me going with your encouraging likes and comments.

Grateful

I can’t believe I’m actually here!

This is such a great event.  The level of everything (i.e: social dancing, competitions, organizing, live music, etc) is just amazing.  I am very impressed.

When checking in, the hotel lady said jokingly that all Canada must be here. Apparently there are a lot of Canucks in the house.

Canada represent!

My room

It’s so great to catch up with friends I had not seen in years, too.

I’m not competing till tomorrow so I have time to relax and socialize.

There’s a Lindy Hop Bloggers meet up happening in 15 minutes so I’m also looking forward to that too.

So, that’s my little update for today.  Hope you all have a great weekend

T minus 20 hours

Yesterday was all about doing laundry.  Four loads each.  We’ve been quite busy and never got around doing it.  That took half a day and the worse part is that when I come back, I’ll have to do all over again.  But I don’t care much about that right now.

Today was about getting last minute shopping done.

And now, the packing begins!

Dress for the Lindy Hop comp courtesy of my awesome daughter. I got to the studio for team practice and she said, I have a present for you! It was this dress :)

Quantum of Solace Girl

For many of you, it isn’t news that the Summer Solstice Girl is a geek.

I have a strong background in science and at some point I was considering going into Astrophysics.  I was a member of the Astronomy Society in my home town and I even got published once for a little article I wrote on the Perseids Meteor Shower.  I was a keynote speaker for a National Amateur Astronomer Conference too.  Good times.

I heart physics.  I am also a James Bond movies fan.  So, as it happens often in life, the universe conspires to make you smile.  I was already in the middle of writing this post when something else happened.   So I decided to change the original title of the post from “Quantum Physics and Lindy Hop? Hell yeah!” to what it is now.
