There were some good times too

With all the bad news, I totally forgot to say that there were great moments during the holidays too. And that’s never a good thingmcause I rarely lose sight of the little [big] things. Besides, it is rather uncharacteristic of me not to make a big fuss about presents and food, and presents, and snow, and presents and parties, and presents and stuff, you know?

So, fret not cause here it is, [cue fanfare] my much belated Christmas/New Years Eve post!!!*

Let’s start with Sid’s surprise birthday party:

2013, who would’ve thunk?

Here I am, first day of 2013.

My mother had this crazy idea that the world was going to end in 2000. I don’t know where she got it from. This is funny cause my mother was a sensible woman, not prone to non-sense. In fact, that’s the only odd thing I ever heard her say.

I must’ve been about 6 or 7 when she said it. I remember doing the math in my head and thinking: In the year 2000 I’ll be 32. Oh, that’s OLD, I don’t have anything to worry about.

Oh yes, I did think that. And it still makes me laugh that I thought a 32 year old person was very old.

But! The world didn’t end in 2000 and it didn’t end in 2012 either (Duh!).

So, hello 2013, even if I ringed the new year in with a cold.

In any case, I’m glad my daughter convinced me to get dressed even if just to take some pictures. The hot shower helped too.

Happy New Year!

Can’t say that 2012 was a good year but in all fairness, it had some really good things. Going back to dancing and training was one of them. Finding Satchie, that adorable little craziness of a cat was another. My little DC vacation, a childhood dream come true is one of the highlights of the year, for sure.

I lost some friends but I made a few others. I laughed, I cried, I dance, I ate, I saw good movies but I was also very sick for a long time. All things considered, the balance is good, I think.

Nonetheless, I can’t say I’m sad to see 2012 go. I lost more than I gained.

Thankfully, the good things are so good, that they’re enough to allow me to look back and smile. I did win a medal this year, after all. Also, I didn’t break myself this year. This is the first no-injuries year in a long time. That must count for something, right?

And I got to perform the Sailor Girls routine again. That was cool!

Plus! I got to be part of the Canvas of the Minds family. That’s pretty cool too.

Oh, and of course, how could I forget… We all survived the Mayan Apocalypse! D’oh!
